a macy project filmworks is a Southern California-based production company built on heart, hustle, and storytelling.

This isn’t a one-person show. While Macy Patterson leads the creative direction, she’s surrounded by some of the most passionate young filmmakers in the country — friends and collaborators from USC’s School of Cinematic Arts, Chapman’s Dodge College, NYU, UCLA, and Cal State Long Beach. Together, they form a grassroots production family dedicated to one thing: making great films.

We’re not doing this for money. We’re doing it to grow. To experiment. To learn from every take, every cut, and every story we try to tell. The short-term goal? Get better with every film. The long-term goal? To work in this industry we love — telling stories that entertain, that challenge, and maybe even make the world feel a little more human.

Right now, the dream is to take a short film all the way to Cannes. But every film we make is already a step toward that dream — and you can be part of it.

WHO’S BEHIND IT

Macy Patterson, our founder and head of production, is currently studying screenwriting at the University of Southern California’s School of Cinematic Arts, the #1-ranked film school in the nation.

Before even setting foot on campus, she had already directed 71 short film projects, won multiple Best Picture and Best Director awards across regional festivals, and was named a finalist for Artist of the Year in Orange County.

She doesn’t just want to make movies — she wants to tell stories that matter.
